The Charleston East project is one of several recent ecological improvements at Google’s Mountain View campus. The 5.4 acres of new habitat patches created at this site include five new habitat types: oak woodland and savanna, wetland, riparian woodland, native grassland, and chaparral. 88% of the new plant species are native to California, and 73% are native to the South San Francisco Bay region. Once at maturity these plantings are projected to increase the canopy cover of this site from 8% to 34%.
